Baseball Player Evaluations Sat. March 1

Baseball Player Evaluations for Minors and Majors divisions

Saturday, March 1, Mile High Little League Field, 725 Juan Tabo Blvd. NE, in Albuquerque.

WHO MUST ATTEND:

Evaluations are mandatory for baseball players who are league-ages 9-12. “League age” refers to your child’s age on Aug. 31, 2025. All baseball players who will be 9 years old by Aug. 31 must attend.

Any child who is league-age 8 and wants to be considered for the Minors Baseball Division must also attend Player Evaluations. We make no guarantee that 8-year olds will be selected to a Minor Division team.

The Player Evaluations on March 1 WILL ONLY BE FOR BASEBALL PLAYERS in the Minors & Majors Divisions. These player evaluations are NOT for softball, Tee Ball, Rookies (machine pitch), or teenage divisions.

FAQs:

Many parents—especially those who are new to Little League—ask what EMLL’s Player Evaluations are all about. Here are a few basics to help you and your child:

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:

We will start checking in at 11:45 a.m. for 11 & 12 year olds. Check in for 9 & 10 year olds, and any 8 year olds who want to be considered to play up, will start at 1:30 p.m. Players will run the bases, field ground balls and fly balls, throw, and bat.

WHAT TO BRING:

Your child does not have to wear a baseball uniform (though it’s OK if they want to), but they should dress appropriately to run around and play ball: athletic shoes or rubber cleats (metal cleats are not allowed), baseball pants or loose-fitting pants like sweatpants, etc., and don’t forget about the weather! Please dress your child appropriately for whatever curveball Mother Nature may throw! Your child should bring their baseball glove. If they have their own baseball helmet, it’s OK to bring that; if your child brings his own bat it MUST BE A USA BAT. Be sure that your child’s name is on all of their equipment! And don’t forget to have your child bring water or something to drink!

PLAYER EVALUATIONS ARE NOT ABOUT “MAKING THE TEAM”!

Player Evaluations or Tryouts are only to evaluate skill level. Parents often ask us, “What if my child doesn’t have a good tryout, will he still make a team?” Although the term “tryout” implies that your child may or may not make the team, that’s not what Little League player evaluations are about. In Little League EVERYONE MAKES THE TEAM!
